The Wabane Council was created on April 24, 1995, by Decree No. 95/082. Since its establishment, the council has been managed by four mayors:
- Manfred Nkonganyi Fontem
- Tanyi Simon Kedju
- Jong Manasseh Teba (who completed the term of his predecessor)
- Nembo Ketu Israel​.
